Notes:
Large clump; leaves & culm erect; culms trigonous; leaf-sheaths reddish-brown; leaf-bades W-folded with a prominant keel; Only a few of last seasons inflorescences still shedding fruit which are grey in colour now, and no sign of new flowers at all. Forming dense clumpy thickets; the inflorescences at maturity drop to the water where the utricles float off forming dense masses on the surface of the water.
