Habitat:
Growing in relatively deep soils in uncultivated ground on the lip of a coastal terrace riser (but was also recorded mid-slope and at the base of the riser). The terrace riser supports secondary semi-coastal hardwood forest, whilst flatter land above and below is dominated by developed pasture.
Microhabitat:
Forest-free (terrace-top) areas are dominated by a dense sward of exotic grasses, particularly Dactylis glomerata and Lolium perenne. The secondary hardwood forest on the riser is dominated by kanuka (Kunzea sp. approaching the K. robusta form), Myoporum laetum, Alectryon excelsus and Pseudopanax arboreus with an understorey dominated by Melicytus ramiflorus, Myrsine australis, Pennantia corymbosa, Helichrysum lanceolatum and Piper excelsum, over a groundcover of Polystichum neozelandicum ssp. zerophyllum, Agrostis capillaris, and Microlaena stipoides.
Notes:
Population consists of scattered individuals or small groups of plants. Several plants were seen, in a wide variety of habitats. Growing in QEII Covenant.
