Notes:
Young plant ± upright, purplish. Lower sheaths hairy, upper sheaths much less no, almost glabrous. Long hairs at junctions with blade on lower leaves. ± absent on upper ligule ± purple sometimes with marginal hairs from minute tubercle, tip truncate serrate. Blade to 6 x 0.6 cm. Finely scabrous, one side of blade finely waved or crumped, the other smooth. Culm 20 cm long from upper most node. Racemes 3(4) to 7.5 cm long. Rachis broadly 2 - winged 1 mm wide, wavy, serrated. Spikelets 3-3.5 mm long. Lower glume ovate c. 0.5 mm long. Upper glume lanceolate c. 2.5 mm long. C. 2/3 length og spikelet very hairy particularly when mature. Lower lemma 3 - (5) narrow - apiculate. Upper lemma smooth.
