Two trees on either side of stream on recent alluvial deposits.

The down-valley tree is small, approximately 3m tall. It is at the margin of the extensive valley-side mountain beech (Fuscospora cliffortioides) forest.
The up-valley tree is a larger specimen, approximately 5m tall. This large spreading tree has several trunks, the bases of which are buried in recently-deposited stream debris. It lies at the edge of tall-scrub dominated by Coprosma propinqua, Discaria toumatou and Corokia cotoneaster.
