Wet turf on edge of bog. Growing with swards of Carex petriei close by.

Notes:
Shortly rhizomatous forming tight mats. Greenish red flat leaves, stiff. 3 styles. Utricles, smooth and shiny, red-brown adaxially, pale abaxially, bifid finely toothed beak. Glumes slightly < utricles, pale mid-region otherwise red-brown, barely excurrent awn. Red leaved form.
