Notes:
Rhizomatous, leaves concolorous, pale fawn above, geen below, obtuse, concave, obviously veined, with cross walls. Culm flattened, c. 5 cm. Spikelets, approximate, erect few flowered. Utricles dark red, rounded, with short beak, orifice circular, styles 3. Glumes c. = utricle, with green midrib and drying with prominent lateral veins, tip produced into short scarbrid awn. Old leaves shed leaving scars on rhizome. New shoots with dark red scales.
