Notes:
Tree c. 11-12 m high, very widespreading and with tendency to produce aerial roots. Shoots stout and purple. Young leaf sheath c. 26 cm long, bright red. Leaves very coriaceous, to at least 25 x 16 cm, dark shining purple above, pale greenish or greenish brown beneath, excepting pink midrib on both sides. Sterile.
