Microhabitat:
The plants are most plentiful, free-standing over loose limestone debris, with occasional Poa cita, otherwise little other large vegetation present. Where this debris is more stable or finer some other species occur, including Discaria toumatou and Coprosma propinqua over Poa cita and Festuca novae-zelandiae with a variety of native and exotic herbs and grasses.
