Notes:
Large rhizomatous herb; rhizomes very thick and horizontal. Petioles dark purple, including basal wing, shining; lamina rather bullate, dark glossy green above, purple and glossy beneath. Peduncle purplish-green, much < leaves. Spathe 25-27 x 7-8 cm, expanding fully and reflexing in late anthesis except for dark purple proximal 4-4.5 cm that encloses female part of spadix, otherwise spathe whitish-pink inside and pale greenish-pink to light pinkish-purple outside, apiculate. Spadix 22-25 cm long, musty-smelling (not unpleasant to me); appendage 15-18 cm long, white, tapering to acute apex. Male part 3-3.5 cm long, white. Sterile neck c. 1 cm long, white. Female part 2-2.5 cm long, whitish, milky sap inside.
