Notes:
Plants 1-1.5 m high; pseudostems purplish towards base. Leaves with lamina to at least 60 x 25 cm. Inflorescence erect, dark purple with some white bloom (i.e. peduncle, bracts, spathes, and outer perianth whorl). Main spathes to c. 17 cm long. Inner perianth whorl of 3 segments, each c. 2.7 cm long, triangular-ovate. Inner perianth whorl of 3 segments, each c. 9.5 cm long, united for c. 3.5 cm, pinkish-red; lobes ± elliptic. Staminodes 10-11 x 5-6 cm, very broad obovate and reflexing, scarlet, innermost with yellow flush, at least proximally. Anther 1, adnate to side of staminode proximally. Petaloid style with free part 5-6 cm long, scarlet and shining. Ovary dark red, strongly papillate. A number of plants, all with the same flower colour.
