Notes:
Herb? subshrub, c. 1 m high; stems erect. Leaves undulate, uniformly dark green above; margin (distal) of sheath purple. Inflorescence erect. Peduncles to 2 cm long, purple, > linear-subulate green bracts. Perianth violet-blue, ovoid in the prominent bud stage; outer whorl 12-13 mm long; segments ± ovate; inner whorl with segments c. 1.5-1.7 cm long, very broadly ovate, of rather a deeper colour, not opening widely and enclosing the 6 stamens. Style > stamens.
