Notes:
Rhizomatous plant with pseudostems 70-80 cm high. Leaves ± distichous. Inflorescence to c. 20 cm long, deep rosy-crimson, including lower bracts and rachis. Bracts spirally arranged, from c. 6 cm, reducing to 2 cm long from base to apex of inflorescence, broad elliptic but remaining folded inwards. Bractioles pink, c. 2 cm long, 4 toothed apically. Perianth c. 4 cm long to apex of lower lip, white; uppermost c. 8 x 10 mm, 3-lobed, sloping forwards; outer 3 perianth lobes = those of inner whorl and appressed to it. Anther connective broad and rounded.
