Secondary growth kanuka forest. Boundary with recently harvested commercial forest. Land use: Scenic Reserve. Landform: Uplifted sandstone coastalcliffs and gorges. Geology: Predominantly sandstone. Soil colour and texture: Sandy, pumice. Aspect: NW. Slope: Fully enclosed (forested) coastal catchment.
Notes:
Iwi/hapu: Ngati Porou Plant height 7+ metres. Leggy, growing along boundary with commercial forest. Majority of seed has been missed, seed capsules are high up out of reach.
