Hillside Nothofagus fusca / Pseudowintera colorata, Coprosma dumosa, C. tenuifolia and Dicksonia fibrosa.
Notes:
With many Dicksonia fibrosa. Scattered. 19 plants counted between carpark and 1916500 E, 5697650 N (with most near the beginning of the track, including one at the entrance); generally scattered, with Dicksonia fibrosa far more abundant.
With truck c. 1.2 m tall. Untidy skirt of mostly stipes and rachises, but some laminae too. Lamina 130 cm long and 57 cm wide. Stipe 58 cm long. No individuals of Dicksonia sp. Whirinaki [Dicksonia fibrosa × Dicksonia lanata] seen with 2+ m tall trunks, whereas D. fibrosa regularly taller. Stipes and proximal rachises of Dicksonia sp. Whirinaki usually orange-brown, whereas those of D. fibrosa usually green (but sometimes partially or even completely orange-brown, especially in smaller plants). Some smaller plants of D. fibrosa have long stipes, but they still have markedly reduced pinnae in the proximal lamina; bigger plants all have short stipes.
