Tree 7-8 m high with open habit; foliage in terminal clusters on the stout branches. Leaflets whitish beneath. Catkins finger-like, grey-green and ± pointing downwards, after being erect initially and then white and enclosed in a white sheath. Female flowers surrounded by a white powder.
