Specimen notes
Type:
HOLOTYPE of Olearia virgata Hook.f. var. implicita Simpson, Trans. & Proc. Roy. Soc. New Zealand 75: 199 (1945). All six sheets (CHR 64331 A-F) can be regarded as the holotype.
Glenny D, 23 May 2005
Supplementary remarks:
Olearia virgata (Hook.f.) Hook.f. Allan, Fl. New Zealand 1: 671 (1961) designated CHR 64331 A as lectotype but this was unnecessary since CHR 64331 A-F are evidently the same gathering. Heads, Bot. J. Linn. Soc. 127: 276 (1998) also attempted to lectotypify CHR 64331 A. AK 22900 is not an isotype since it is wild material whereas the protologue states the type is ex cultivation.
Glenny D, 23 May 2005
Subsheet:
Sheets A - F.
Supplementary remarks:
[CHR] 64331 A - F These specimens were originally labelled in pencil "Olearia divaricata v. implica. Type. G. Simpson." These are the only specimens in the herbarium answering to the name Olearia virgata v. implicita Simp. TRSNZ 75 (1945) 199 except for the following points:- the twigs are dark brown, phyllaries are pilose and aschenes are hairy.
V.D. Zotov, 9/2/1948
Supplementary remarks:
Type specimen is [CHR] 64331 A. B - F are isotypes.
