Small tree with very swollen trunk 70-80 cm high. Leaves soft, pale glaucous-white beneath. Inflorescence stems erect. Inflorescence bright scarlet; branches erect. Perianth segments 4-5 mm long, elliptic but rounded distally. Stamens erect. Fruit c. 1.7 x 1.4 cm. broadly oblong.
