In small side valley, amongst tall trees of modified forest.
Notes:
Giant soboliferous herb c. 3-4 m high with dark purple sheats. Trunk with purple sap. Leaves like a typical banana, several metres long. Fruit in erect clusters above leaves, eventually turning orange and with bright yellow flesh, 15-17 x 4.5-5.5 cm across side of greatest width, 3-4-angled. Edible raw and cooked. A considerable number of trees in the vicinity. Rarotongan name: uaku.
