Note:
de Lange et al. (2012) included the name Buellia subcoronata in a list of names affected by nomenclature changes, replaced by Buellia epigaea. They also stated that Buellia epigaea is a terricolous species only recently recognized for New Zealand which is known only from one inland saline soil site in Central Otago. This specimen has just been confirmed as matching the other specimen of Buellia epigaea in the CHR collection by David Glenny.
