Notes:
Rhizomatous; longish prominantly veined sheath; short ligule. Leaves faintly channelled, slightly bluish, some leaves with scabrid apices (it looks as if they become smooth with age). Culm terete; few flowered; rachilla scabrid above and with a red tipped appendage; lower two flowers female 3 stigmas (& anthers but not dehiscing!), nut trigonous, utricles brown to blackish red, occasionally beak scabrid but mostly smooth.
