Supplementary remarks:
This plant is what I think we both consider to be Ranunculus "Rekohua". It has unfoliolate to tri-lobed leaves which are sparsely hairy across the upper lamina and the petiole. Flowering scapes of this plant have 1-2 petals and the inflorescence is somewhat "divaricate", each flower subtended by a large leaf. The only marked difference I can see between this plant and others I have collected from the Chathams (and yours) are that the upper leaf surface is papillate, and my Ohira plant is sparsely rather than densely hairy. This plant has 2n = 48 chromosomes. When collected this plant (which is very common at the columns) looked for all the world like R. recens, grew in peat turf with Rumex neglectus and was the size of 50 cent piece. Being July I never found it in flower. I think it is young plants of this that [D.G.] Given thought were R. recens - understandable really.
