Local heights:
from 481m
Habitat:
The most abundant patch was in short exotic grassland. (Primarily: Agrostis capillaris, Anthoxanthum odoratum, Lotus pedunculata, Hypochaeris radicata, Trifolium repens, Rumex acetosella, Holcus lanatus and Achillea millifolium). With some remains of native species. Aspect: Westerly. Slope: pretty steep (approx. 40 º) with thin soil.
Notes:
Most orchids had purple stems with green capsules/flowers, but a few were entirely purple. Flowering had finished when I visited this site. Gorse and broom along the fenceline are periodically sprayed, maintaining a fairly open 'orchid friendly' area.
