Notes:
Large rhizomatous herb forming clump, with inflorescence stems c. 1.5 m high. Leaves ± distichous, dark and shining above and with raised veins. Inflorescence erect or suberect, to c. 40 cm long, usually much shorter; distal part eventually curving over. Bracts pink, those of proximal half prominently imbricate, c. 5 x 3-3.5 cm, broadly obovate, those of distal half 2.5-2.7 x 1-2 cm, strongly involute, broadly obovate. Corolla not present, presumably white. This cultivar and its dark crimson-rose counterpart are very common.
