Upper valley forest, on small ridge.
Notes:
Tree 5-6 m high with slender prop roots near base of trunk. Leaves on vigorous vegetative shoots beneath canopy larger and much darker green than those on adult shoots. Inflorescence pendulous. Capitulum 4-6 cm long to apex of inner bracts, 5-6 cm across. Florets bright orange. Corolla 3.5-4 cm long; segments very narrow linear. Style c. 6 cm long, coloured as perianth. Stamens with anthers 1.3-1.6 cm long, cohering around style. Abundant and often dominant. Old capitulum from another tree.
