Supplementary remarks:
Original owner of farm was James Gibbs (1809-1892) who arrived in Nelson in 1842 and recieved a Crown Grant of 500 acres at Wakefield in 1852, having settled on the land in 1847. Gibbs came from Alton in Hampshire, United Kingdom and is said to have bought an acorn with him.
