Branched herb with diffuse habit, the main stem erect. Leaves always dissected with very narrow and strongly toothed lobes (including basal leaves), purple or greenish. Sepals 6 - 7 mm long, narrow linear, pale green. Petals 9 - 10 mm long, yellow; limb c. 6-7 mm long, obovate, ± patent. Style > longer stamen whorl. Cultivated as "mizuna" that most likely = cv. 'Nipposinica'.
