Habitat:
Rocky limestone outcrop (shell fragments seen) near river mouth. Plants present were coastal flax, Cotoneaster spp, gorse, tauhinu, pampas spp, Poa anceps and Cordyline australis. Manuaka was also on the more unstable, wetter site upstream.
Microhabitat:
Small rocky chamber with dirt substrate/rubble. While site was stable, where the plant was growing could be considered as scree.
Notes:
Only one plant seen. Flowering.Site appeared to be protected from stock grazing due to the steep nature of the site.

Supplementary remarks:
Laminae are 17 x 6.7 mm, exceeds the size in Burrow's description (to 12 x 6 mm), but fits specimens of Pimelea barbata ssp barbata much better than P. mimosa which has more narrowly elliptical leaves. This then represents the extinct Gisborne populations mentioned by Burrows.
