Habitat:
Growing on a gentle river terrace riser
Microhabitat:
Population extends over an area of approx. 40 m x 5 m at a cover of between 5 and 10%, comprising a population of 100+ individual plants.
Notes:
Other species present (in order of dominance) are: Pilosella officinarum, Chondropsis sp., Rumex acetosella, Anthoxanthum odoratum, Carex breviculmis, Leucopogon fraseri, Raoulia australis, Sedum acre, Veronica arvensis, Trifolium arvense, Festuca rubra, Muehlenbeckia axillaris, Silene gallica, with scattered taller plants of Rosa rubiginosa and Echium vulgare.The Muehlenbeckia ephedroides population extends over the adjacent terrace and probably comprises several hundred individuals, though some parts of the population have recently been damaged by herbicide spray. Other indigenous species nearby are: Convolvulus verecundus, Luzula ulophylla, Raoulia hookeri and Poa colensoi.
