Habitat:
Substrate: Growing in shallow loose debris on the flat crest of an emergent greywacke outcrop. Aspect: Near crest of a north-facing hill.
Microhabitat:
Growing under a secondary kanuka (Kunzea ericoides) canopy, with a sparse Coprosma crassifolia and Coprosma propinqua understorey, over scattered Anthoxanthum odoratum, Rytidosperma sp., Dichelachne crinita, Cheilanthes sieberi, Pyrrosia eleagnifolia, Asplenium flabellifolium and Asplenium appendiculatum over bare loose rock fragments and soils.
Notes:
Size of plant: Small, with a forked rhizome of c. 10 cm (total) length, two fertile fronds, and the shrivelled remains of former fronds.
