Collected by Geoff Walls, DoC Napier. This flax forms a hedge around the back and sides of an old sod hut. Oldest remaining plantation on the island (appears in photos in 1905 and 1907). Possibly as old as the hut which was there in the 1860s, possibly as early as 1810. May have been brought to island by early sealers. Burnt and browsed in farming years. Many clumps of flax now, forming mass covering area of about 20m x 30m. Has seeded. Indentical to Tucker Cove flax.
