Collected by Geoff Walls, DoC, Napier.Flax taken from clump at old derelict Tucker Camp, site of WWII Coastwatch Station, that subsequently became the first meteorological station. Planted in mid-1950s by George Poppleton, Meteorological Service, who took divisions from the Tucker Cove plantation.Leaves very erect, dark red edges and bases. Fibre easy to extract, long, very strong and fairly coarse.
