Notes:
Hardwicke Settlement was shortlived, 1849-1852. Several clumps of flax along about 200m of shoreline, backed by rata forest, and a few seedlings on old cobbled road just back from shore.Flax is very erect, strong blades, fine fibre which is reasonably easy to extract.
