Notes:
Clump-forming herb with unbranched purple stems to c. 1.2 m high. Leaves soft, lowest on stem at this time with small basal lobes. Spikes erect, clustered, appearing reddish-purple because this is main colour of bract and calyx; lobes of calyx and the bract itself ± acuminate. Corolla light purple excepting whitish proximal half of tube, this c. 4 mm long; limb c. 4 mm across lobes; latter c. 2 mm long, ± broad oblong. Anthers at throat (just included). Stigma green. A single clump; species originally introduced from Max Visch.
