Soboliferous / musoid plant with copious viscid sap; trunk c. 1 m high. Leaf lamina c. 1 m or more x 40-45 cm, curving downwards; midrib concave above, convex & obtuse below; main veins prominent. Inflor. erect. Male flowers in a rosy-pink "cone" with the largest lower bracts c. 8 x 4.5 cm, broad oblong-ovate, thick later recurving. Perianth c. 4 cm long, pale orange-yellow, slightly curved. Anthers exserted, cream. Fruit beneath "male" cone ± erect, 5-6.5 cm long x c. 3 cm across widest face, obtusely 3-angled, deep pink, pubescent. Flesh white.
