The 'Broadlands' farm plant from Pohangina Valley appears to be identical to material I collected last year at two Northland lakes (Swan on the Pouto Peninsula and Waiporohita on Karikari Peninsula - in Wells and Champion 2009 Northland Lakes Ecological Study). They key out in Kirschner's treatise on Juncaceae to be Juncus polyanthemus (an Australian and New Caledonian plant previously misapplied to J. edgariae and J. usitatus - see Flora of NZ V2). It is quite likely to be self-introduced on ducks feet.
