Habitat:
Sheltered rock bank in semi-shade; cultivated.
Notes:
Succulent herb with lax stems, red-flushed on exposed side. Leaves to c. 4.5 x 1.2 cm, ± oblanceolate, green excepting margin being reddish distally, strongly ciliolate. Bracts strongly reducing on the long peduncle. Sepals 2.5-3 mm long, lanceolate. Petals 6.5-7 mm long, ± oblong-obovate, white, recurving in distall half. Stamens c. 6 mm long, with white filaments and yellow anthers. Styles < stamens, becoming crimson. Scales c. 0.5 mm long, yellow, ± obcuneate, emarginate. An early winter or late autumn - flowering plant. Cultivated as this species sometimes.
