Supplementary remarks:
The typed Univ. Michigan label states that this specimen is from “Kaikoka Lakes, lat 39° 40’S, North Island”. Inside the packet, in Bartlett’s hand is “Kaihoka lakes , on limestone rock”, then in a different pen,” Lat 39° 40’S”.
I cannot find a suitable set of lakes about 39°40’S in the North Island, and wonder if Bartlett erroneously added that latitude, which then caused someone else to interpret it as North Island. I suspect it was collected from Kaihoka Lakes, Nelson LD, at 40.522084S,172.523825E
