Notes:
Shrub-like plant with erect, green terete stems; leaves large but rather pale (? plant virus-infected); lamina deep, shining, uniformly green above, a little paler beneath with base red. Flowers coral red when young; female flowers soon becoming pinkish red. Tepals of female flowers 1.4-1.8 x 1-1.7 cm, broad obovate to suborbicular, subequal; ovary wings very unequal, largest c. 1.3 x 1.5 cm, asymmetric, other 2 wings much smaller and less asymmetric; stigmas 3, twisted & branched. Tepals of male flowers 0.8-1.2 x 0.9-1.3 cm, broadly ovate-cordate, deep red.
