Notes:
Herb c. 1 m high (flowering stems), roughly hispid, biennial or short-lived perennial. Radical leaves absent at flowering. Calyx lobes ± spreading, shallowly toothed. Flowers ± secund and facing outwards. Corolla c. 4 cm across lobes, ± saucer-shaped, blue-violet with dark purple basal ring; lobes almost patent, 1.3 -1.7 x 1.2-1.6 cm, broad ovate. Stamens white. Style white; stigmas > style, c. 1 cm long, blue-violet. Spontaneous. Plants scattered in part of garden where originally introduced about a decade ago.
