I have sectioned 6 leaves, with emphasis on the upper portions. While I have seen no bistratose areas in the lamina I have seen distinctly thickened margins. I believe that thickened margins and bistratose sections of the lamina co-occur in Cratoneuropsis s.l. (i.e. including "Hypnobartlettia") and I see no reason to doubt JEB's observations/drawing of bistratose upper leaf margins in this material.
