Notes:
Small tree 2.5-3 m high; trunk slender; bark smooth and pale except for thin dark reddish-brown strips. Leaves coriaceous, glaucescent. Buds shining, dark brown, with "collar" near top of hypanthium; operculum conical. Fruiting inflor. with white bloom, including the pendent capsules (dark reddish beneath bloom). Capsules 1.5-1.8 x 1.7-1.8 cm, deep cupular; rim narrow; disc descending, not white bloomy.
