Small, very widespreading tree c. 4 m high, with stout trunk (short) and main branches, the latter ± horizontal. Upper branches still ± leafless but just coming into flower; lower branches leafy, thus plant almost deciduous. Leaves subcoriaceous when mature, dark shining green above and with impressed veins; pale green beneath. Flowers white; petals patent; limb c. 3 mm diam., rounded. Stamens < petals; filaments white; anthers rosy-purple. An old relic of cultivation. From same site as Sykes 188/97 & Sykes 189/97.
