Notes:
Sprawling diffuse succulent with rather slender, brittle, pinkish stems, sometimes rooting at nodes. Leaves tending to be in terminal clusters but fall so readily that stems have appearance of being leafless, individual leaves to c. 3.3 x 1.7 cm, obovate, glaucous, usually with reddish purple flush apically, to c. 8 mm thick, convex beneath. Inflor. a dense (glomerate) head usually 1.5-2 cm diam.; bracts and calyx glaucescent. Flowers with rather musty smell. Sepals thick and ± rounded apically. Petals 7-8 mm long, ± broad triangular; lower half whitish; upper half strongly reflexed and lying between sepals; upper surface dark red or reddish-brown. Stamens 3-4 mm long, pinkish-red, including anthers, attached to c. middle of petals. Styles red-tipped. Glands cresent-shaped, very low.
