Notes:
Uncommon. Growing on the gound of a cattle and sheep browsed dense matai (Prumonopitys taxifolia) / totara (Podocarpus totara var totara) / Hoheria angustifolia forest. Growth habit feeble, plants widely sprawling, not rooting at nodes, leaves bright green when fresh, branchlet nodes dark black to maroon, inflorescences mostly spent, and often very hard to see unless specially looked for. Lemma finely covered in prickle teeth, leaves more or less glabrous (minutely covered in fine prickle teeth). Simplicia not seen in nearby covenant fenced off to exclude browsing animals.
