This plant was found in shady black beech forest. Topsoil was beech leaves. Deep soil. Flat area near trail.

Notes:
This is a putative hybrid between Gaultheria antipoda and Gaultheria macrostigma. ~ 15 cm high. Sparsely branched like macrostigma. Pink berry. Dark pink fleshy calyx (green/yellow non fleshy sepal tips). Solitary and axillary fruits. Saw a similar plant to this (berry/fleshy calyx) with light pink fruits. Collection #490 had dark pink fruits.
