Lincoln cultivar ex Rene Orchiston Collection, Hexton, Gisborne. Orchiston ID No. 8.Source: Waiomatatini, East Coast. From the garden of the late Sir Apirana Ngata.Description: A handsome bronze coloured flax. Deep brown tones with crimson, almost translucent margins and markings along centre of blades. Sometimes known as the Blue Flax because of the distinct purply blue bloom on the underside of the leaves and on the kōrari. The young flower stems on one small bush were almost navy-blue. Korari semi-lax, slender, wavy. Dark red flowers with inner tepal tips greenish. Seed pods long, very narrow, becoming papery with age. Uses: OrnamentalEmDashmainly for garden display. Contrasts well when planted among other cultivars.
