Habitat:
Around old house site, on shrubs and small trees.
Notes:
Climbing herb or vine. Leaves shining, with purple petioles. Flowers pendent, in dense clusters. Outer tepals c. 2.5-2.7 cm long, red with dark green apex; inner tepals 3.5-3.7 cm long, yellow, often orange-flushed outside, with prominent brown spots; limb broadly spathulate. Filaments pale yellow; anthers green. Fruit rugose, to c. 2.2 x 2.2 cm, with flat Δ apex. One or two plants only. Apparently wild. Also in at least one other similar habitat in the area.
