Habitat:
Base of fence and below shrub canopy margin. Spontaneous.
Notes:
Succulent herb with short semi-prostrate stems, often rooting from nodes. Leaves in terminal rosettes to c. 6 cm across; individual leaves dehiscing extremely easily and then rooting from proximal end, each to c. 3 x 1.3 cm (often remaining smaller), oblanceolate or narrow obovoid and to c. 5 mm thick, green with glaucous-blue bloom, often the obtuse tip red, ± flat above and rounded beneath, ± curved. Inflor. to c. 16 cm high, pinkish-red; scape naked. Flowers few (< 10) distally and ± directed downwards; pedicles slender, pinkish-red. Sepals 2-3 mm long, equal, thick and curved, appressed, pink. Corolla 8-10 mm long, broad cylindric with the petals lightly cohering and scarcely spreading distally, orange red outside, orange inside. Stamens 10, pale yellow, < corolla. Styles yellow, < stamens. Gland an annular whitish ring around ovary.
