Habitat:
Cobble and boulder fields on semi permanent river terraces. Not found where ground cover exceeds 50 mm or so. "Havelock" ranges from very dry sites to damp seepages.
Notes:
Mature seed. Caterpillars present in many seed heads. On examination the caterpillars are found feeding in the area where the fruit is attached, presumably on the developing fruit. Variable stalk length from 40 mm - 200 mm (estimate). Variable leaves with rosette width of reproductive plants ranging from 30 mm - 120 mm (estimate). Density of distribution ranges from occasional to common, but most frequent where found, and in groups.
