Habitat:
Growing spontaneously a few metres from cultivated parent.
Notes:
Perennial acaulous herb, eventually with large fleshy white root to c. 4.5 x 2.3 cm below the bulb; outer scales brown, with several veins. Petioles pinkish in lower part; lamina of leaflets either uniformly dull green above or with an indistinct to prominent dark purple crescent-shaped band in lower part and sometimes this lower part entirely purple; leaflets 4. Scape > leaves, pink towards base usually. Sepals oblong-elliptic, with 2-3 small apical calli. Petals 1.3-1.8 cm long x 0.7-1 cm wide, ± broad obovate but somewhat asymmetric, deep salmon-pink with darker veins except for pale green basal part. Stamens at 2 levels, both included; filaments of longer whorl pubescent and glandular. Styles short and glabrous, much < shorter stamens. Spreading from small bulbils around the main bulb. Cultivated nearby.
